As a model international community and duty-free island, Forest City Special Financial Zone (SFZ) is accelerating its infrastructure development, leveraging its financial hub status to enhance connectivity. Recently, Forest City announced a major transportation upgrade, expanding its bus network to better serve residents, professionals, and tourists. These enhancements provide greater efficiency, accessibility, and convenience for those commuting between Forest City, Johor Bahru, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.
Following the successful launch of direct shuttle services between Forest City and Malaysia’s Second Link (Tuas Checkpoint) in December 2023, Forest City has now introduced direct bus routes to Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with Causeway Link. The new service operates every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, departing from Forest City at 6:00 PM, with return trips from Kuala Lumpur departing at 7:30 AM. This initiative greatly benefits professionals and tourists, allowing them to travel seamlessly between Kuala Lumpur and Forest City.
Additionally, in response to strong demand, the existing shuttle service to the Second Link checkpoint has been expanded with an additional 10:00 PM night service. This new schedule provides greater flexibility for Malaysians working in Singapore, helping them manage their commutes more efficiently.
Another key enhancement is the optimization of the Bukit Indah route, which now includes a stop at Eco Botanic. This addition makes it easier for passengers to reach popular shopping and commercial areas such as NSK and AEON Bukit Indah, catering to residents’ daily commuting needs.
Within Forest City itself, a dedicated island shuttle service continues to operate, connecting Island One residential areas with the Golf Resort. This complimentary shuttle service for residents fosters a more convenient and community-driven living environment, reinforcing Forest City’s reputation as a self-sufficient, sustainable township.
Beyond bus route expansions, Forest City’s transport network has been fully optimized to ensure smooth connectivity with Johor Bahru’s public transport system. Under the management of Causeway Link, these improvements streamline travel between Forest City, commercial districts, and the Second Link checkpoint, offering greater convenience for daily commuters and business travelers.
To enhance passenger convenience, Forest City’s bus services support multiple payment methods. Riders can pay with cash, use a Manjalink public transport card, or tap their Visa card for a seamless digital payment experience.
To commemorate the launch of these improved bus services, Forest City will host a Bus Service Inauguration Ceremony on February 16, inviting residents, business owners, and potential investors to experience the new routes firsthand. Attendees who register on-site will have a chance to receive a free transport card, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
With Malaysia’s government actively revisiting plans for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR), Forest City’s strategic position as a regional transport hub is becoming increasingly evident. His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, Malaysia’s Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Sultan of Johor, has proposed an HSR station in Forest City, with the route extending across the border to Singapore’s Jurong East. Once completed, the HSR is expected to reduce travel time between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to just 90 minutes, further elevating Forest City’s accessibility and appeal.
With progressive government policies, ongoing transport infrastructure upgrades, and expanding international accessibility, Forest City is rapidly evolving into a premier global living destination. Whether for residence, business, or investment, its unparalleled combination of duty-free privileges, seamless cross-border transport, and strategic location make it a model for future urban development.
From Forest City, the world is within reach—a community where residents can live, work, and travel effortlessly, all while enjoying the benefits of a sustainable, well-connected smart city.
